Manitoba adopts the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code

In force In force since Apr 1, 2026

What changes

Manitoba replaced its electrical code (M.R. 76/2018) with M.R. 30/2026. The new code adopts the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, 26th edition (CSA C22.1:24), with Manitoba amendments. It governs installing and altering wiring connected to Manitoba Hydro's grid, except in mines and quarries. The regulation took effect when Schedule C of The Building and Electrical Permitting Improvement Act (S.M. 2021, c. 37) was proclaimed on April 1, 2026. A companion regulation, M.R. 31/2026, sets performance standards for electrical permits.
