Door-to-door sales in Saskatchewan: licensed sellers and your 10-day cancellation right
In Saskatchewan door-to-door sellers must be licensed, contracts over $100 must be in writing with a statement of cancellation rights, and you have 10 days to cancel.
The FCAA regularly warns about unlicensed door-to-door sellers in Saskatchewan. The rules are simple, and they give you a way out of a pressured sale.
Sellers must be licensed
All door-to-door salespeople, also called direct sellers, must be licensed in Saskatchewan. Ask to see the licence and check whether the seller is listed on FCAA411.
Written contracts and cancellation rights
Contracts must be in writing unless the sale is under $100, and every direct sales contract must include a statement of cancellation rights.
10 days to cancel
You can cancel from the day you enter the contract until 10 days after you receive a copy of the contract or statement. You do not need a reason. Send notice in a way that proves it was sent, such as registered mail, fax or personal delivery.
Refund
After cancellation, the vendor must refund all money received under the contract within 15 days.
Older text
An older published version of The Direct Sellers Act describes a shorter period. Rely on the FCAA's current statement of cancellation rights, and check the current Act if a seller disputes it.
